Which Face Will I Wear Today?
- Surreal Motion Graphics

Year: 2019

Category: Digital imaging, Animation, Motion graphics, Manipulation

This is my motion graphics assignment which I made during the course Design and Computing 2 in RMIT University Vietnam.

For this motion graphics project, I want to reflect the mental problems of people in modern day which results from the expectations of society. I want to illustrate the inner struggle, the conflict between the society standards and the individuals who yearn to be accepted.

To be able to “fit in”, everyone has to wear a mask which represents the standards of the society. In order to be recognized as decent human beings, we have to fit in the mould instead of breaking away and showing how we really feel. It doesn’t matter if we are sad or broken inside, society constantly tells us how we should feel and expects us to be perfect.

People just keep on talking behind our back and glue their eyes on us, waiting for us to display a flaw and drag us down. This leads to constant pressure and worrying state of mind among a lot of people, especially the youth in the era of the Internet outbreak.

In addition, because of the heavy promotion of perfect figures on social media, there is a lack of confidence in individuals who look and feel “different”. Therefore, if we don’t follow the crowd, we will be abandoned behind, trapped in isolation and alienation.

Eventually, this comes to the denial of one’s true self just to fit in society. In order to feel secure and accepted, we will just do what the society wants us to and lose ourselves.
